Race Classes

COMPETITION CATEGORIES GENERAL

  • Sportbike:
    • Lightweight - 420cc or less (twins up to 550cc, singles up to 650cc)
    • 600 SS - 640cc or less (twins up to 750cc, triples up to 680 cc, singles - Open)
    • Open Sportbike – open
  • Superbike Open
  • Formula GP - GP style motorcycles up to 250cc and single cyclinder motards up to 500 cc.
  • Formula III - GP style or motard style bikes of any displacement.
  • Formula 160
  • Vintage - motorcycles more than 25 years old
  • Sportsman:
    • Lightweight - 420cc or less (twins up to 550cc, singles up to 650cc)
    • Heavyweight – open
  • Senior Open - Rider must be at least 35 years old on race day, Superbike rules for motorcycle.
  • Supertwins and Singles - All motorcycles with no more than three cyclinders.
  • Middleweight Twins - open to all two cylinder motorcycles less than 750 cc
  • SV Cup
  • Novice Open
  • Youth Open
  • Woman's Open

EQUIPMENT STANDARDS - GENERAL

  • Turn signals, mirrors and headlight glass parts must be removed.
  • Taillight/brake light must be removed or disabled (lens may be taped).
  • Horn must be removed or disabled.
  • Safety wire as per Appendix B (all drain plugs, filler caps, front brake lever bolts, fork oil drain screws and oil filter bolts).
  • Coolant must not contain ethylene glycol.
  • Route all vent, breather, or overflow tubes coming from the engine, transmission, or radiator into either a heat-resistant catch can of at least 350cc capacity, or the air box.
  • Remove all stands.
  • Either tape up, or use a terrycloth wristband to cover the front brake master cylinder to prevent brake fluid from leaking.
  • Apply a bead of silicone to all brake banjo bolts (to prevent loosening).
  • Tire valve caps must be of metal construction.

SPORTBIKE

  • Sportbike racing class machines must be standard models as catalogued by the original equipment manufacturers and sold to the general public in Canada or U.S.A. for street use and available from all of their authorized dealers.
  • Motard style bikes are also eligible for this class within their respective classes.
  • This class is also opened to the Motard Style motorbikes within their respective classes.
  • Tires - DOT tires, no slicks.
  • Front Suspension must use the original front forks both inner and outer tubes. Fork internals may be modified.
  • Rear Suspension must retain the original swing arm and the swing arm must be left unchanged. The rear shock linkage may be substituted. The rear shock may be modified or replaced.
  • The original frame must be retained. Unnecessary brackets may be removed.
  • Engine modifications are unlimited except for the following
    • Stock cases, barrels, cylinder heads and throttle bodies must be used but may be altered.
    • Stock carb bodies or fuel injection systems must be used but carb internals; velocity stacks and injection management systems may be altered or replaced.
    • After market exhaust systems may be used, but must meet noise restrictions.
    • Electronic quick shifters are not allowed. Manual secondary hand operated kill/quick shifters not allowed.
    • Clutch actuation may be modified to a racing kit type.
    • Dry clutches are only permitted if used on the stock motorcycle.
    • Stock air box is not required but an air box is required. An air filter is not required. Larger air boxes may be used but the stock tank and tank placement/mounts must be used. Ram air systems, including ducts and scoops, must be identical in spec to the OE fitment.
  • Engine capacity must fall within class size as follows. There are no horsepower limits for these classes.

Classes:

    • Lightweight - 420cc or less (twins up to 550cc, singles up to 650cc)
    • 600 SS - 620cc or less (twins up to 750cc, singles - Open)
    • Open Sportbike – open

SUPERBIKE OPEN

  • Open Superbike is open to any motorcycle type as long as it is at least 250cc 2 stroke or 500cc 4 stroke.
  • Tires - DOT or slicks.
  • Unlimited modifications, supercharging, and turbo charging are permitted.
  • Use of aftermarket wheels is allowed.

FORMULA GP / III

  • Formula GP is designed to allow the racing of true 2 stroke racing motorcycles from 0-unlimited displacement, and Motard style single cylinder motorcycle up to 950cc.
  • Tires - DOT or slicks.
  • Unlimited modifications allowed.

Classes:

    • Formula GP - two or four stroke GP style motorcycle up to 250cc or motard style single cylinder two or four stroke motorcycle up to 500cc
    • Formula III - 2 stroke GP style motorcycle with any cylinder configuration and any displacement, or motard style single cylinder two or four stroke motorcycle up to 950cc.
      • Engine and chassis are not required to retain their stock engines. Ex: NS250 with a CR 500 engine.
      • The Formula III class is a completely open to all modifications, as long as the original chassis was that of an original 2 stroke GP style bike.

VINTAGE

  • Class is open to riders of any age that ride a vintage style motorcycle under these rules.
  • Motorcycle Requirements that all bikes are at least 20 years old.
  • All motorcycles (except 4 stroke singles) must be air-cooled.
  • Chassis (frame) and engine cases must be sourced from a sold-in-Canada or U.S.A. Street legal machine (any year). However, the engine and frame do not have to match as a pair. (i.e.: A GS750 engine in a GS550 chassis or a Yamaha motor in a Kawasaki frame is legal.) Street legal "aftermarket" frames (i.e.: Rickman) are legal, if available in Canada or U.S.A. through normal retail sources.
  • 4 stroke singles do not have to meet the street-based motorcycle restrictions (i.e.: 4 stroke singles can use custom or aftermarket frames).
  • Engines
    • Unlimited engine displacement
    • Fuel injection, supercharging and turbo charging are not allowed.
  • All other modifications are permitted.
  • Tires - DOT only. No slicks.  

SPORTSMAN

  • Chassis (frame) and engine cases must be 10 years old or more. For the 2005 race season, that means 1995 model year or older.
  • Motorcycle must meet Open Superbike technical requirements.

Classes:

    • Lightweight - 420cc or less (twins up to 550cc, singles up to 650cc)
    • Heavyweight – open  

SENIOR OPEN

  • Rider must be 35 years old or older on that race day.
  • Motorcycle must meet Open Superbike technical requirements

Supertwins and Singles (Combined class inter-expert)

  • Open to all 2-stroke motorcycles over 400cc all 4 stroke V twins. Ducati, Aprilia, Honda RC-51, Honda VTR1000, Suzuki TLR1000, etc, all 4 stroke singles over 400cc, as well as all triple cylinder bikes over 500cc. e.g. Triumph triples are also eligible.
  • Tires - DOT or slicks
  • Unlimited modifications

Middleweight Twins

  • Open to racers only running 4 stroke v-twin motorcycles up to 750cc
  • Tires – DOT or slicks
  • Unlimited modifications

SV CUP

  • Open to Intermediate racers on a Suzuki SV650 in accordance with the latest National Suzuki SV650 rules.

NOVICE OPEN

  • Novice riders are permitted to use any type or size of motorcycle.
  • The choice of motorcycle must then fit into one of the competition categories.
  • Novice riders will participate in 'Novice only' race events until they demonstrate the skill to advance to the Intermediate group.
  • Novice racers must complete 4 novice events without incident before deemed eligible for consideration of advancement to the Intermediate class. The four events can be completed in 2 race weekends.
  • Advancement is at the discretion of the Race Rep and Race Director.

 Youth Open

  • Youth racers from 12 years of age and no older than 15 years of age.
  • To be run on a modified track, modifying the straight between turn one and two, utilizing the Eddies S’s and the turn around point in front on the grandstand.
  • Machine Requirements:
    • Open to any motorcycle up to 125cc, including the mini-motard style motorcycles
    • Maximum bike weight wet 262lbs.

Women’s Open

  • Motorcycle must meet Open Superbike technical requirements
  • Open to Women only.
