Race Numbers

I was just reading through the competition handbook and I noticed that it states race numbers must be displayed on the front and both sides of the motorcycle. Most of the bikes I've seen seem to have numbers displayed on the front and back but not the sides. Is that acceptable?

The numbers on the "back" of the motorcycle should be clearly visible from both sides. If the back number is on a mostly horizontal surface (as the bike sits on a wheel stand) then it does not meet the rules as written. Some people place additional side numbers on their lower fairings to get around this problem.

 The only bike you should be having an issue with sticking a number on the tail section should be a RSV4, maybe a new R1...

Also as a note, its been widely accepted to have a single tail section number plate on just one side.

Example,
