In parts again.......

Bad fork seal, fork oil all over body work, rim, rotor, caliper and pads.

*sigh*

So what takes off fork oil without stripping paint?

Fork oil is just like any synthetic or petroleum based fluid.
If you don't want to harm your paint, use an emulsifying agent - i.e. water based cleanser. (just be careful that any soap-based cleaner is aluminum safe)
Or just get in there with your hands and wipe as much as you can away with absorbent towels.

Then get that fork seal changed cuz its nearly race time!!

Brake cleaner. Paint and rubber safe, quickly removes oil. Time for new pads though, they are too porous and absorb oil.

Yeah, pads ordered, Blair is bringing in another set. Forks are in the shop, now just the clean up and put back together friday night.

Going to give the rotors a good cleaning too......

I use simple green for most jobs, but when it really has to be completely oil free, brake cleaner works well. Some of my wheels are powder coated and do not like MEK, which is in some brake cleaners, and will melt certain types of plastic coatings though.
