Noise restrictions?

A friend and I will be coming out and trying your track for August 8/9, He's got a 04 R1 with a full Hindle system and I've got a 08 CBR1000RR with a full Akro system. I've heard you guys have noise regs and was wondering how hard they are to pass?

Also is camping allowed at the track and if not where do most racers stay that's safe for the bikes?

The CBR with the ackro will be questionable but bring it , bring the stock or a quieter aftermarket in case it does not pass.

Track noise limit is 96db measured from what i think is the tower.
Blair Layton (sv-racing-parts on this forum) sells exhaust inserts which signifigantly reduce the noise level... you just have to give him the inner diameter of your exhaust outlet... Blair, please chime in if i'm steering these guys wrong here! :)
Not sure on the camping rules but I leave my bike at the track every night when i go home (during race weekends). In my opinion it is safer at the track than it is even locked in my garage at home.
Where are you guys comming from?

The track sound limit is 94 db and is measured from the side of the track at the exit of turn one, where riders are at full throttle for the back straight. We haven't had any problems with inline four cylinder bikes meeting the sound level as long as their exhaust systems are well maintained. If you have bought the exhaust system new within the last year you should be okay, if it is older than that you probably will want to check the packing in the muffler and repack if necessary.

Where do you normally race at?

The Akro comes with an optional stuffer, that's sitting in my toolbox somewhere so I'm hoping I don't have to put it in, but my buddies 04 has been a race whore since 05 with the Hindles. He's from Saskatoon and I'm from Esterhazy, Sk and we usually race in Gimli. We've been wanting to try other tracks so decided to do Edmonton and maybe probably Calgary.

I would bring the insert that came with your pipe, just in case. As for the CBR, I would definitely repack it and/ or bring another quieter pipe. I hope to see you guys out here.

As for camping - ive been told that the track does not have bylaw permission to 'camp' - that being said, the track is gated and locked each nite(except race weekends), and there are no washroom facilites after hours.
Fort Saskatchewan is 10 min away, and has several motels, and campsites.

Plenty racers stay over night Fri/Sat at the track. Bring an RV or trailer with your own washroom for after hours like Planepower said. There is a consession open in the morning and all day at the track to buy meals or grocery stores 5/10 minutes away.

I am assuming you and your friend have race licenses, which is why you chose Aug 8/9? If so, please make sure you read all the info and requirements for the track and our club rules. Most likely the rules won't be too different from Gimli. Ian is the guy to harrass with any club questions. LOL

See you guys in a few weeks!
