The Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on December 7. I thought it was well attended and very interesting. Thank you to everyone that came out and participated.

Our elected 2012 executive will be:

President: Ian Wall
Vice-President: Justin Knapik
Treasurer: Todd Yakimoski
Secretary: Jon Watchuk
Director: Jon Bullee
Director: Dave Sushynski
Director: Dave Kendal
Director: Scott Blair
Director: Jesse Coombe
Director: Trina Widders
Director: Scott Paras

After a lot of discussion there will be no major changes to the rule book except for the previously decided helmet requirement (Snell 2010 or equivalent)

In an effort to get tire contingency we will be renaming the Fast 25 race to a more recognizable name: Open Superbike. The rules for this class will be the same as the 2011 Fast 25 rules except that it will also become a points class for a Championship.

There are two proposals that came up at the AGM that we would like the racing members to vote on:

1 - A large number of the members at the meeting said they wanted more racing, we are proposing turning the August weekend into a second double-header with no practice day. We would race on Saturday and Sunday. Because there would be no practice day, for safety all gridding for this weekend would be done by points. This would turn the EMRA season into a seven round series instead of the current six round series.

2 – The majority of people at the AGM would also like to see the race grid reversed. Our current grid has pole (first) position on the inside of the track and fourth position on the outside. The proposal is to move pole position to the outside of the track and have fourth on the inside.

I will be sending out an email to racing members to vote on these two proposals.

Finally, Congratulations to Tanis Dolman-Johnson for her winning entry in our 2012 poster contest:

Here are the voting results:

I sent out an email to the 116 email address' we had from our 2011 online registration system.

Proposition 1, the second double-header - passed 26 to 5

Proposition 2, move pole position to the outside of the track - passed 26 to 4 (one person abstained from voting on the second proposition)

So for 2012 we will add a second double-header in August, creating a seven round championship. We will also change the grid (time and weather permitting) to have pole (first) position on the outside of the track.

Thank you to all that voted.

See you at the bike show, Ian
