Transponders

Just wondering if transponders are manditory for Novice races? I realize the club has only so many to rent so what happens if they're all rented?

Novice class is the only exception where I wouldn't say they are absolutely required, the point of the class is not about lap times anyway, it's about proving you can finish races and race safely, but running without a transponder means extra work for our timing and scoring volunteers, as they have to rely on manual scoring and then enter the results at the end of the race.

yup....when the transponders dont catch you across the line it takes a lot more time than one thinks to fix the scoring. I imagine the new system will be different than last year (hopefully more user friendly) but it would still require fixing.
