Big Thanks to John Stroh and many others

I've been up in the shout box, but wanted to make sure I put up a post also.
John, me and my back are eternally grateful for your skill in minimizing the inevitable impact that I put myself into. I was really relieved that you and your bike were relatively OK...and I'm hoping that's still the case. I'm very sorry that I ended your superbike race. You are a great Sportsman in my books.
Also, as I said in the shoutbox, big thanks to you Justin for your care and concern...it was reassuring to have a friend and a professional helping me.
Thanks Pete and of course your wife(I'm sorry I can't recall her name), you're both wonderful people to have as part of the club, both on and off the track. thanks for all of your care and concern, water, ice packs. Chris, Karen, Todd, KJ, Ian, Cory, Blair, Lorna, Norm, Dave, Pat, Andrew etc etc I'm sorry I know I haven't recalled all of you who came by to just see how I was doing, it's great to be a part of this club where we are competitors on track and good friends in the pits. That's really what club racing is all about for me.

As for me, I'm actually feeling pretty Ok as long as I'm just lying down and a bit hopped up on Tylenol codeine, and don't try to move around.
My back is starting to go down in swelling. Right knee is tweaked and swollen as is my left leg, but knock on wood, I'll be back for Rd 5.

And finally, back protectors work. Everyone, please, make sure you have a good, high quality, back protector that's properly sized for maximum coverage of your back. I was wearing a Joe Rocket Speedmaster which is in fact a T-Pro Forcefield back protector that is marketed under the JR label. Last I researched when I bought it about 4 years ago, it was very highly rated in energy absorption. I'm really thankful I had it on.:)

Glad to hear you're on the mend Juan. I was a little concerned when I saw you taking your little rest on the side of the track. It was good to see you get on your feet & get to the ambulance on your own power. I did take a couple of pictures of the aftermath. I'll e-mail them to you later once I pull them off the camera.
Feel better my friend.

Hey Juan. No problems. Maybe it was best that I sit that one out. That's a long race for a old guy(unless your Pete)
Skill, not really. I just kept going to the left hopeing that U eventually stop sliding. I think I hit U just as U were going onto the grass. Then, to add to your injury I fell right on top of U.
Big thanx to Justin. Right on man. I was glad that U were on the scene so fast.
Juan, I dont know if U were out cold, or just winded. I wasnt getting any responce.
Shit happens fast out there. Was that a hi-side or low-side?

thanks Pat! I'll have to embed this one firmly in my memory as a lesson
learned.
It was a lowside. coming up the inside on the exit I wasn't carrying as much momentum as normal, and it was a matter of too much throttle, too soon before the rear had sufficiently loaded up. I was really intent on not letting KJ and Andrew get away and I made the mistake of letting that override good riding.
I'm quite certain I never blacked out, my helmet was not scratched at all. I was quite winded though. And I'm sticking to my opinion that you showed considerable skill based on what others have said it's an absolute guess as to where a sliding body in front of you will stop. You could have at least given me a kiss when you landed on me though.

Good to hear your OK Juan. Didn't look too good when John and the Duc couldn't avoid you. Great day of racing yesterday but it seemed like more then normal crashes though. See you at Rd#5.

That was a scary looking crash from a few bikes behind, glad you and John both came out of it without getting seriously hurt. Hope you're feeling back on form for round 5!

yeah, I hope so guys I'd like to be on the grid for Rd 5, but I have a feeling I might be a spectator/volunteer joining the seemingly growing ranks of the walking wounded. I think my knee is going to be the real problem, it's really seized up right now. I was a bit concerned about my kidneys as Pete/Jeanette, Karen and some others had mentioned, but all the waterworks(sorry, trying not to be graphic, but just sharing that I'm just fine that way) are good here so that's no worry for me now. I;m getting rather bored here.....

Tough luck, don't know what to say. Wounded soldier is what you are, see you round five...riding or not.

Man, at this rate, looks like its gonna be last man standing takes it all!

See you soon.

Weird that there were lots if incidents over the weekend. I had an uneasy feeling going into these rounds. Based on that, work, and a general lack of being prepared I decided to just watch you guys from the stands, kinda glad, I probably would have been the second Yamaha in the Yammy/Ducati sandwich.

Glad you are OK Jaun, I hope to be dicing with you in the next round. Hopefully the mental thing doesn't slow you down too much, I found it really hard to get up to pace after high-siding and doing a lot of damage to my arm. That damn brain puts us in preserve mode, I just wish I was 16 again.

Thanks...I hope to be back for Round 5. I was feeling really iffy yesterday, but much improved today and somewaht more optimistic for Round 5, we'll see. It'll be a challenge to slowly get back up to a good pace for sure. I know exactly what I did wrong, so that's helpful in getting back on track.

Missed it all!

Wow...I regret having to leave early on Sunday without watching the "big event" in Intermediate Superbike.

It's shocking to read all this with no prior knowledge of the crash.

Glad to see everyone made it out relatively "OK".

Get well soon all you wounded soldiers!
Don't let the PTSD slow you down!

Hi John,
I'm getting there. The first week was an exponential recovery period, as one would expect. It's plateaud a bit now, and I'm walking quite well, but still quite achey in the lower back, and the swelling in my left leg is slowly coming down. I think it's just a matter of stretching it out in the next couple weeks and I expect to be back for Rd5.
Todd helped me with my bike last night and everything is straight, no issues, just some minor bits and bobs that I'll replace in the next couple weeks. More armor on the way, suit is in getting the spa treatment...and I'll be ready to race on Aug 8/9.
Everything OK on your end John...is your shoulder back to, or close to normal?
Juan

Thats good to hear. My shoulder is fine, was throwing a football last week without any probs. I did look like a old banana in a few spots, those are gone.
Well, lets hope the fast recovery continues with U, Matt, Kent, Blair & KJ.
